The Director of R&D ACRE International is responsible for defining and leading the engineering strategy and ultimately executing on the product delivery for the ACRE International business.

Furthermore, this role will identify and interpret trends in technology as well as leverage the re-use and platform strategy within ACRE.

The output from this will be the successful alignment of these factors into our product innovation processes.

Leading a Regional Engineering team of approximately 30 technologists and developers. This role will build and leverage our technical depth in the ACRE organization to secure and advance our position in the market.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Recruit and build teams with both technical depth and management leadership to support the business objectives.
  • Oversees the design and delivery of innovative solutions to meet customer requirements, keeping manufacturability aspects in mind.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to ACRE management. Build relationships, motivate and develop technical staff to increase the Organizations technical capabilities.
  • Set department Engineering organization goals, align and lead resources to deliver products and solutions on time, on budget in accordance with ACRE Int business plan and strategy.
  • Manage R&D budgets for the Business unit to meet agreed targets.
  • Ensure sustaining activities for the installed product is supported to meet customer and business service level agreement.
  • Support the integration of new R&D teams entering from acquisitions.
  • Drive, re-use and economies of scale for products, technologies and platforms.
  • Formulates long term objectives and standards of performance for ACRE Int Engineering teams.
  • Partner with ACRE Int Management Team stakeholders to understand and plan for future product release requirements.
  • Prioritize changing demands, multi-task, and meet aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • Provide leadership, maintain visibility and accessibility, build relationships and promote communication across the Engineering teams. Motivate and develop Engineering staff to increase organizational capabilities.
  • Ensures that the product development process and safe way of working is adopted and adhered to across the Engineering teams and the organization.
  • Responsible for the design, management and implementation of the system architecture.
  • Ensures execution and quality of Engineering output is high by measuring and maintaining clearly agreed KPI’s.
  • Develop / improve tools, systems and processes to increase organizational efficiency.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, ensuring the company maintains and expands its technology leadership position.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum BSEE, 10+ years industry engineering experience
  • Track record of leading geographically distributed teams able to deliver system solutions.
  • Ability to present project status and justification to executive management.
  • Knowledge of the electronic security industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge / experience of (cloud) software engineering.
  • Knowledge / understanding of the Agile process, specifically the scrum process and experience in leading Agile teams.
  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
  • "Out of the box thinker" must be key driver contributing to the products roadmap and willing to take innovative product risk while balancing the road map for on time deliverables.
  • Competent in electronic hardware and software architectural design.
  • Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
  • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Exposure to business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, and administrative operations.
